The Classes

Five classes.
Ten ways to be one.

Your hag is what you are. Your class is what you do with it. Each of the five runs from level 1 to 20 with a full feature table, and each splits into two paths that play nothing like each other.

The Witch

The Witch

Full caster · d6 · Intelligence

The coven’s scholar and its strongest spellcaster, fighting entirely at range.

The deepest spell list in the coven and the fewest ways to survive being reached. She works at range, opens with the largest thing she can afford, and treats her own hit points as a resource like any other.

Where a wizard hoards knowledge, the Witch spends it. Occult Recovery hands her back nine levels of spell slots on a short rest. Backlash lets her burn a slot to eat a hit that would have finished her. Every one of her tools turns something she has into something she needs, and the exchange rate is never in her favour.

Dark Blood

Blood Ritual Circle

You draw bloody runes at your feet and pay a small tribute of your own blood to empower the spells you cast while standing in them. One circle at a time. Casting a new one turns the old to red mist.

Coven Speaker

Coven Magic Alone

You speak for the coven, drawing powerful coven magic out of yourself and your sisters. Alone, you cast what normally takes three hags standing in a circle, and you conjure the components it needs.

The Brute

The Brute

Half caster · d12 · Strength

A front line fighter who overpowers enemies physically rather than by casting.

She does not cast so much as arrive. Her unarmed strikes deal a number of d4 equal to her Strength modifier, her hide is thicker than plate, and her spellcasting runs on Strength rather than on any book.

The one thing she has that no other class does is Witch's Touch: every spell with a range of Touch is open to her, whatever kind of hag she is, and Hexed Strike lets her deliver it through a weapon in the same swing. She is the only hag who can grapple something and then pour Inflict Wounds into it.

Turbo Baba

Ungodly Speed

You drop onto all fours and convert witchcraft into velocity, running walls and ceilings, provoking nothing, and cashing the momentum into whatever you hit at the end of it.

Oni-Ogress

The Occult Predator

The hag of the folktale under the bridge. You snatch enemies off their feet, drag them where you want them, and throw them across the battlefield.

The Apothecary

The Apothecary

Half caster · d8 · Intelligence

A brewer who prepares a fresh set of potions and poisons every day.

The least random hag in the coven. Her power is settled the night before, at the pot, and everything she does in a fight comes out of a bottle she already chose. She rolls no special dice and needs no luck: the answer is either in her bag or it is not.

Every long rest she brews one of every formula in her book, six potions in a single hour of work. They turn to sludge at the start of her next long rest, so she brews for the day she is having rather than the day she might have. From 7th level she can pour the unused ones back into the pot on a short rest and make different ones.

Plague Chemist

Venom and Terror

You have become an expert at delivering your poisons. They cover a larger area and they hit harder, and what they leave behind keeps working long after you have moved on.

Mutant

Aberrant Transformation

You craft a specialty brew only you have the stomach for, and drink it. You become a hulking thing that holds the front line while your other bottles do the rest.

The Summoner

The Summoner

Caster · d8 · Wisdom

A commander who fights through a familiar and raised undead rather than in person.

She harvests the dead and keeps them in her pockets. A Shriveled Heart is cut from a fresh corpse and spent on whatever she needs: a construct, a swollen familiar, or a spell slot she does not have.

Her resource does not come off a table. It comes off the fight itself, which means her strongest rounds are the ones that follow a bad one. Nothing in her kit acts on its own, and nothing in it is autonomous: every construct she makes is a thing she pointed at something.

Fleshcrafter

Disposable Constructs

You stitch flesh and bone around a heart to make something that runs at the nearest enemy and comes apart on top of it. They are not companions. They are ammunition.

Familiar-Binder

Empowered Familiar

A raven, a cat, a toad. Then you feed it hearts and it stops being small: Medium, then Large, with reach and a strike that lands like a siege weapon.

The Oracle

The Oracle

Delayed caster · d8 · Charisma

A support caster who reads what is coming, helps her sisters and curses her enemies.

She bends fate, granting boons to allies and curses to enemies, and the two are the same contract read from either end. Her day begins with a d20 and a card she did not choose.

The Fate Deck is twenty cards, and each one is a genuine advantage bolted to a genuine cost. You carry both until your next long rest. You may refuse the first card you draw and take the second, but only in the moment of drawing: once the day has started, the card is yours. She is also the only hag in the book who can put hit points back into somebody.

Fateweaver

Shared Fortune

You pierce the veil and pull the rest of the party through with you. Everyone draws a card. Everyone pays for it. You decide who carries which.

Doomsayer

Weaponised Misfortune

You keep the deck to yourself and push the penalties outward, onto whatever is unlucky enough to be standing in front of you.

Multiclassing works. A hag can take levels in more than one of these, and the sheet works out the combined slot table, the hit dice and the prepared count for you. Levels in the Brute and the Witch together give you a woman who grapples something and then casts into it at point-blank range.
